TESLA COILS ( Setola di maiale )
Blaise Siwula: reeds
Harvey Valdes: guitar
Tesla Coils is a free improvised electro-acoustic trio based out of Brooklyn and actively performing in the NYC downtown scene. Elegant sax lines float over textural guitar stylings are manipulated in a process of real time electronic orchestration. Veteran improvisors emphasize real-time reactivity and a shifting focus of tension in their dynamic interplay. Though cast in the shape of a trio, the musicians deconstruct their sound often ending up together, tumbling hard but light through this dizzying lesson in cooperative 'conflict'.
An extract of a live performance at the ABC NO RIO in NYC of the experimental quartet DRAWN TO SOUND ( Morgan O'Hara: pencils, live transmission, Ben Gerstein: trombone, Mike Pride: percussion, G.L.Diana: laptop, live electronics ) has been chosen to be part of this awesome vinyl compilation of sound art installations in the Czech Republic, curated by the label "Meet Factory". ( 2013 )
COS'ALTRO ( Setola di maiale, SM2140, 2012)
G.L.Diana: guitar/laptop/sound processing/turntables/voice
Stefano Giust: drums/objects/cymbals
Lorenzo Commisso: sampler/electronics percussions
New collaboration with the italian based musician Stefano Giust (owner of the indie Label "Setola di maiale").
The music reflects a multitude of directions and layers of sound, acid and a kaleidoscope in which they are bewildered sonic debris that gather and are stratified in kaleidoscopic directions that reflect the multifaceted music. A strange album.

This Cd was recorded few days after the Tsunami hit Japan on March 11, 2011.
''....Instant energy........a sudden release of energy........we are not judging the consequences of the Tsunami, its deaths, destruction, desolation.......a raw natural power....''
LAGHIMA (Setola di maiale, SM2090, 2011)
G.L.Diana: live electronics/real time sound manipulation/'mbira
Frederika Krier: violin
Laghima is an electro acoustic duo based in New York City.
While G.L. Diana is improvising with the laptop using loops, real time sound manipulation and different ethnic instruments, violin virtuoso player Frederika Krier improvises/deconstructs melodies over this sonic carpet using classical citations, jazz influences in a free context.
Their performances and recordings are free improvisations, instant compositions born in that particular moment.
Laghima is an ancient Sanskrit Word which means ''levitation'', to become lighter than the mass-body, to go beyond gross-bodily conceptions.
Laghima is a continuos dialogue between the two to find balance, to be lighter, using all colors to merge into the white one, using different languages to obtain one common simple language.
CRISTALLI SONORI (Setola di maiale, SM1890, 2011)

Patrick Holmes: clarinet
Porra Boy: flutes/slide guitar
Lisa Dowling: double bass

This album is one more step on my personal deep listening journey. Most of the music on this disc is freely improvised with the intent to capture the sound of the original acoustic instruments played by the musicians, transforming/manipulating it in real time processing through a Digital Signal processor.
My approach to Sound is since the beginning spontaneous, free and intuitive. I spent many hours listening to the quality of a sound and its development, just listening and listening, until a deep perception suddenly appears manifested and clear, inspiring new ways to improvise/compose with that particular sound.
I consider a sound like an object with its sculptural and spatial configurations, and my process of composing/improvising is just related to the different planes, volumes and densities and to the acoustic relations between sounds.
A sound is a sound, it has its own existence and I never judge the origin of that sound.
Sound is before everything.

DAS KOLLEKTIVE UNBEWUSSTE
G.L. Diana : turntables, sound effects
Damian Crubellatti : Radio AM waves
Yorga : Delay pedal
Valerie Batel : Voice
Adriana Pavic : Live sound-sculpture
The performance took place during an Art Exibition in a basement of an old factory in Prenzlauemberg (Berlin, 1999), where we were playing inside the last room of a long hall. People could walk into the art exibition, listen to our improvised sound installation and yet were only able to see us only through a hole of the ''gate door'' until Adriana completed her Sound-sculpture on the door. And then, we were totally obscured from the public's view.
